Careers

Farming today is a highly technical profession. A farmer requires expertise in many facets of the operation, such as livestock feeding, breeding and management, machinery management, crops, weeds, insects, crop protection products, plant food, and marketing.

Ridgewater offers courses in all these areas to provide students a background in all areas of farm management. Many employment openings exist for students in Farm Operation and Management with good to average compensation. In recent years, we received nearly 100 openings for farm employment for dairy and swine herdsman and crop farm work. Our graduates are extremely proud to be farmers and find the occupation very demanding and challenging. We understand the problems and difficulties facing farmers. We hope all Ridgewater College graduates leave with this philosophy: “We are equipped with the best tools possible for success.”
